What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintainer - Maintain Repair Physical Assets position at East Lyme Public Schools?
- Skilled work of licensed journeyman level applied in the maintenance and repair of building and related mechanical and electrical systems and related equipment and furnishing.
- Performs assignments normal to a particular trade(s), requiring the use of standard tools, practices and licensed journeyman skills.
- Works independently, receiving instructions in oral or written form, and directly from rough sketches or blueprints.
- Exercises considerable independent judgment with decisions made in accordance with trade practices, statutory regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
- Provides general supervision and/or instruction to employees assigned to assist in Maintainer’s regular duties.
- Covers events or other special need or works additional hours or on weekends if needed to meet service requirements.
- Performs such other related duties as assigned.
- Licensing for, or equivalent knowledge and experience of, methods, materials, tools and practices of at least one of the following trades: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, steamfitter-boilerman, millwright, painter, mechanic.
- Ability of licensed journeyman level in at least one of the trades.
- Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Ability to work from rough sketches and blueprints; working knowledge of one or more other building trades.
- Knowledge and understanding of building safety codes and the usual precautions applicable to the safety of school buildings and occupants.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, other employees and school children.
