What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver position at East Mills Community School District?
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current “CDL” and school bus operators permit issued by the Department of education. Has an acceptable driving record and a thorough knowledge of traffic laws and school bus regulations. Medical physical as required by law annually. A good work record.
REPORTS TO:Transportation director and building principals
JOB GOAL:To transport students to and from attendance centers and activities in the
safest and most efficient manner.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obeys all traffic laws
2. Attend three hour annual training sessions as required by Iowa Dept. of Education.
3. Meets emergency situations in accordance with standard operating procedures.
4. Implement rules and regulations as defined in Board Policy.
- Conducts pre-trip inspections on vehicles, maintaining sufficient fuel and oil.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Notifies the transportation director of any mechanical problems.Transport all authorized students ensuring that all route pickups and discharges comply with school policy and Iowa Code.
- Be on the bus while passengers load and unload.
- Maintain a consistent time schedule, reporting any changes to the transportation director as quickly as possible.
- Supervise and maintain discipline among the passengers according to adopted disciplinary procedures.
- Report any adverse weather or road conditions to transportation director.
- Keep the assigned route bus clean.
- Completes all required reports on time in prescribed manner.
- Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by the transportation director.
- Promote good public relations in dealing with administration, parents, and students.
- Notifies the transportation director as early as possible when a substitute driver is needed.
- Shall perform other tasks as may be assigned by the administration.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year will be established by the Board of Directors.
EVALUATION:
Performance to be evaluated annually by the Superintendent with the assistance of the Transportation Director.
