Job Type: Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hours: Normal work shift for this position is 8 hours daily, Monday-Friday. Start time varies on departmental and seasonal needs. Seasonal work may require (4), 10 hour days.
East MS EPA is an EOE, including disability/vets.
JOB PURPOSE:
The job is an entry level position to the Association's Tree Trimming crew and is responsible in assisting with the maintenance of the Association's rights-of-way(s) to ensure continuous and uninterrupted electric service to its members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Trained in CPR and First Aid
Utilizes assigned tools/equipment to trim and/or cut brush and trees to clear new ROW's or maintain existing ROW's, and removes debris as needed.
Basic knowledge and abilities in the following:
o ROW width/clearance specifications
o Uniform traffic control standards and requirements
o Electric system configuration (recognition of energized equipment and operational voltages)
Qualified skills and abilities in the following:
o Operation of brush-chipper
o Operation of chainsaw
o Use of hand tools and ropes
Training in job advancement skills:
o Tree trimming, tree climbing and bucket truck operation
o Certified Climber (minimum of 40 hrs. training prior to advancement to Apprentice Tree Trimmer)
Utilizes mobile radio and mobile phone for communications.
Perform any other duties assigned to fulfill the objectives of the Association.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of a Mississippi CDL-class B (CDL- class B permit will be considered with the understanding that a full CDL-class B license must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
Employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time due to the inherently dangerous nature of work assignments.
Must be able to wear necessary PPE.
Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather [rain, heat, sun, cold, storms] throughout a standard eight or ten hour work day.
Must be able to work irregular and long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to traverse [maneuver, walk, climb] various terrains [unlevel ground, steep embankments].
Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
Must be able to communicate with others.
Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.
Must be able to work with hands and fingers by seizing, holding, grasping, turning, touching, picking, and pinching.
Must have foot and leg control in order to operate vehicle/machinery/equipment controls.
Must have the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds.
Successfully complete a pre-employment physical, drug, and alcohol screen and E-Verification.
