Job Summary
The Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard, ensuring efficient management of materials and equipment. This role involves supervising staff, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating shipping and receiving activities. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily yard activities to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage the loading and unloading of materials using various equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, cherry pickers, and order pickers.
- Oversee shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accuracy in inventory management.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners for tracking inventory.
- Train and mentor staff on equipment operation and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections of yard equipment to ensure proper maintenance.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize workflow and resolve any operational issues.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a warehouse or yard management role is preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including forklifts, cherry pickers, and pallet jacks.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes as well as warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations related to warehouse operations.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with staff and other departments.
- Experience as a warehouse supervisor is a plus.
This position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high safety standards in the yard environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
