What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietary Aide position at East Neck Nursing & Rehabilitation Center?
East Neck Nursing & Rehabilitation Center are looking for Dietary Aides for the following shift:
- 2pm-8pm Dietary Aide - Part Time
WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS ARE A MUST!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the facility’s Food Service Director and Dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
- Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed.
Staff Development:
- Attend and participate in in-service training programs as required.
Dietary Service:
- Prepare meal trays that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
- Assist in serving meals as directed.
- Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
- Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Clean work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
- Sweep and mop floors as directed.
- Carry soiled utensils, etc., to wash area.
- Return clean utensils to proper storage areas.
- Wash and clean utensils as directed.
- Carry out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
- Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
- Assist cook in preparing meals..
- Obtain food supplies for next meal.
- Assist in checking diet trays before distribution.
- Deliver food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas.
- Serve food in dining room as instructed.
- Perform dishwashing/pot washing/cleaning duties following established policies and procedures. Assure that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
- Remove food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and take to dishwashing area.
- Prepare and deliver snacks, etc., as instructed.
Safety and Sanitation:
- Prepare food, etc., in accordance with sanitary regulations, as well as with our established policies and procedures.
- Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.
- Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks.
- Wear Hat or hairnet at all times while in kitchen
- Wear disposable gloves as per policy and procedure.
- Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
- Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to your supervisor immediately.
- Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor on the shift in which they occur.
- Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
- Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies and procedures..
- Follow instructions on SDS and report missing/illegible labels and/or SDSs to your supervisor.
Equipment and Supply Functions:
- Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
- Assist in inventorying and storing incoming food, supplies, etc., as necessary.
Resident Rights:
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent residents care information.
- Knock before entering a resident’s room.
- Review complaints to the Supervisor and/ or Director of Food Services.
Miscellaneous:
- Make only authorized food substitutions.
- Assist in food preparation for special programs as needed...

- Effectively communicates with staff to accomplish goals and objectives.
- Creates a work atmosphere that promotes cooperation, respect, flexibility and teamwork amongst peers and staff.
Safety and Sanitation:
- Follow all established safety policies and procedures when performing job duties and operating equipment.
- Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the supervisor as soon as possible.
- Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions to the supervisor immediately.
Customer Service:
- Maintains an adequate liaison with families, residents.
- Demonstrates awareness, respect and concern for internal customers (coworkers) and external customers (i.e. patients, residents, families, physicians, referral sources)
Residents' Rights:
- Maintains CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.
- Assures that the resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are followed.
Attendance:
- Observes rules, policies and regulations with regard to attendance, punctuality, appearance and professional attitude as established by the facility.
- Employee must wear designated uniform and footwear while on duty.
Miscellaneous:
- Conforms to the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable facility policies for patient privacy.
