Overview
East Penn is currently seeking a Private Fleet Dispatch Supervisor. The Private Fleet Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for supervising the dispatch team to ensure the efficient and most cost-effective use of our transportation modes while not sacrificing the high level of service East Penn Mfg. is known for. This role will oversee the coordination of assigning work to the private fleet to provide an exceptional final mile solution within the Fleet Planning department.
Responsibilities
Supervises dispatch personnel; mentors and coaches team members, providing guidance regarding expectations, performance, EPM policies and proceduresOversees communications between dispatchers and private fleet driversKeeps department up to date on any Driver Hours of Service updatesTranslates field data feedback from drivers into master data tables and operational process updatesConducts local tuning of planned routes, as necessary, to address unplanned events or circumstances, while maintaining highest levels of service and efficienciesProvides order status updates and delivery confirmations for all company divisions through real-time trip monitoring within Descartes Transportation Management System (TMS)Works strategically with Sales, Planning and Operations on customer delivery requirements to help ensure a proper balance between customer satisfaction and on time deliveryResearches and troubleshoots operational issues with cross functional teams to create and implement actionable improvement plans to reduce shipment delaysEnsures any contractual obligations associated with on time delivery are being met and reviews any exceptions or penalties, providing cost analysis and corrective action recommendationsActively participates in planned versus actual gap analysis, root cause investigation and implementation of corrective actions related to final mile processesWorks with all Regional Distribution Center dispatch teams to develop center of excellenceFocused on delivering optimal business results by managing equipment availability, monitoring driver utilization and coordinating on the fly inbound freight management decisionsLeverages internal KPIs to lead continuous improvement efforts within department while supporting an evolving business; presents KPIs as needed to various departmentsWorks with strategic internal partners (sales, distribution, manufacturing) to improve service and/or reduce costsOversees the maintenance of master data tables within FPA and TMS softwareSupervises the processing of orders into and out of the TMS
Ensure orders are processed properly into the TMS and outbound shipments are planned, communicated to shipping, and executed by transportation teamsCommunicates results/feedback throughout the organization as neededPerforms other duties as requested
Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications3-5 years of related experience in Supply Chain OperationsExcellent Verbal and written communication skillsAnalytical skills and ability to lead through performance-based managementExcellent organizational skills
Preferred:East Penn work experience that includes extensive knowledge of EP procedures and practices3-5 years of experience Supervising or Managing employeesWorking knowledge of TMS products, specifically Descartes Systems Group
Education/CertificationAssociate or bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered
