The Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services to three high schools, focusing on athletic events and ensuring student-athlete safety and health. This position will oversee concussion protocols, coordinate coverage for lower-profile events, and teach a high school class in the afternoon related to health, sports medicine, or physical education.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Prior two years of experience in athletic training preferred. Ability to obtain appropriate teaching certification for the high school class assigned. Possession of the desire to help people learn and grow.
Duties may include but not limited to:
Athletic Training Services:
- Serve as the primary athletic trainer for high-profile athletic events across three high schools.
- Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries for student-athletes.
- Implement and supervise concussion protocols, ensuring compliance with state and district policies.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and communication with parents and coaches.
Event Coverage and Coordination:
- Provide coverage at scheduled high-profile games and practices for all assigned schools.
- Arrange and oversee coverage for lower-profile events by coordinating with other trainers or contracted professionals.
- Respond to emergencies during athletic events and provide first aid or referrals as needed.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teach a high school course in the afternoon, focusing on sports medicine, health, or physical education.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that align with state standards and district curriculum.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to promote learning.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with coaches, school administrators, and the athletic director to promote the health and safety of athletes.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding injury status and return-to-play protocols.
- Attend professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in athletic training and teaching.
