What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance/Custodians position at East Porter County School Corporation?
Custodian
- All assigned areas are to be cleaned daily.
- Areas should be swept or vacuumed daily.
- Desk tops should be washed daily.
- Garbage cans are to be emptied daily.
- Window sills are to be cleaned as per scheduled.
- All restrooms in the designated area will be cleaned and disinfected daily, making sure that soap dispensers and paper towel dispenser are filled and able to be used.
- Other duties optional by building: cleaning of carpets, cleaning of furniture, painting, changing lights, minor repairs, mowing, snow removal, and securing and unlocking doors.
- Must be able to work weekends when the need arises.
- Report repair needs to the maintenance supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Maintenance
- Keep entire building and grounds safe and in operating order.
- Carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and boiler repair work as needed.
- Outside work including snow removal and ground keeping.
- Available to be on call 24 hours if an emergency arises.
- Implement the preventive maintenance program to avoid malfunctions and breakdowns.
- Custodial work as required.
- Ability to work independently and with others
- Must have a current driver’s license and be able to operate Corporation vehicles.
- Communicate with Supervisor about new ideas and other issues that will affect the wellbeing of the school.
- Assist with maintaining work records and logs
- Able to use a computer
- Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and consumables in each custodial closet
- Able to climb and work from ladders
- Responsible for security and safety of the building
- Lift and move up to 60lbs
- Able to understand both written and verbal directions
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
