Job Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Reviews potential residents to ensure Admission criteria is met and collaborates with the DON and Admissions team.
- Reviews clinical information, including admissions record and address as needed.
- Ensure nursing staff follows department and facility procedures and policies.
- Ensure nursing staff follows state and federal regulations.
- Conducts patient rounds and addresses complaints daily and as needed.
- Assist the clinical managers, and DON in monitoring completeness and appropriateness of nursing staff documentation.
- Assist in emergency situations involving residents.
- Educate staff on nursing policies and procedures.
- Attend daily clinical meeting and monthly staff meetings, as assigned.
- Assist in scheduling staff meetings for patient updates, issues and recommendations.
- Interact with medical staff, nursing staff, residents, family members and other personnel regarding residents’ conditions.
- Assist in completing schedules of staff to meet at least minimum daily staffing standards per regulation.
- Communicates with family members and resident’s responsible party.
- Shares resident information with staff on a need-to-know basis for proper care of residents’ needs.
- Maintains compliance with applicable codes and state requirements.
- Communicates with the Activity staff on a regular basis to inform, exchange ideas, coordinate services and discuss format for individual and group programming. Also shares insight, information and reports responses and/or progress regarding residents.
- Recognizes signs and symptoms which signify a change in condition that require nursing intervention and reports these changes to the attending physician, resident’s representative, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing and Administrator. Shares resident information with staff on a need-to-know basis.
- Attends training, meetings, and continuing education workshops (as approved) and keeps current trends through reading and conferring with peers.
- Participates in rotating MOD schedule and MOD trainings.
- Protects the privacy of the resident when communication oral and written information.
- Serves as the backup to the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing and takes on responsibilities in his/her absence.
- Serve in emergency preparations, and/or evacuations during facility emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Graduate of two-year accredited RN program required.
- One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
