Tow Operator/ERS Tech (emergency road service)
Must be 18 years or older to apply:
REPORTS TO: General Manager Towing
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
INTERNAL CONTACTS: Towing Staff, Collision Center team, Hope Street Shop Mechanics
EXTERNAL CONTACTS: Customers, AAA, Providence PD, & RI State PD
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license and CDL for weight of vehicle assigned
- Provide copy of current medical card in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Possess basic mechanical aptitude
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Tow Operator must provide excellent customer service while performing emergency road service, towing, accident recovery, police impound towing and/or abandoned vehicle recovery using assigned truck and towing equipment in a professional and safe manner. Perform timely and correct logging with dispatch of paperwork, daily reports and/or other necessary documentation.
POSITION CONTINGENCIES: Must consent to a criminal background check and be willing to submit to drug test
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- ERS Tech duties dispatched include but are not limited to: changing or inflating flat tires, jumping vehicles with battery issues, deliver a few gallons of fuel to those out of gas, perform minor roadside repairs, perform lock out procedures for those customers who have locked their keys in their car, perform damage free towing, perform accident towing and scene clean up
- Respond to calls dispatched for roadside assistance in a safe, timely, professional manner, free of accidents, injury, and damage as well as communicate ETA
- Communication with dispatch, co-workers, AAA, and law enforcement shall be professional and informative
- Trucks must be inspected prior to beginning of shift. All necessary paperwork of truck and related equipment inspections are to be completed neatly and submitted in a timely manner
- Fill fuel at end of every shift
- Maintain service vehicle and equipment in good safe working order, truck interior must be spotless, exterior should be washed minimum once a week weather permitting
- Safe driving behavior is a must. Obey all traffic laws
- At the end of shift, secure the storage yard by ensuring yard is locked, keys are to be placed in designated area
- Complete and turn in “Daily Driver Report” each shift. All related invoices and payments must be included too
- Perform other duties, including, but not limited to : cleaning trucks, office, shop and/or yard as requested by management

- Capable of lifting 50 pounds regularly
