- Coaching & Player Development:
- Plan, organize, and conduct practices to develop individual and team skills.
- Teach basketball fundamentals, strategies, and game rules.
- Provide mentorship and motivation to student-athletes, emphasizing leadership and confidence.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Game Management & Strategy:
- Develop game plans and strategies to ensure competitive performance.
- Attend all games, tournaments, and events as scheduled.
- Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions.
- Analyze game footage to identify areas for improvement and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Team & Program Leadership:
- Uphold and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with players, parents, and school staff.
- Ensure academic accountability and encourage student-athlete success in the classroom.
- Communicate effectively with athletes and parents regarding schedules, expectations, and program goals.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Coordinate scheduling, transportation, and logistics with the Athletic Director.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, player eligibility, and equipment inventory.
- Ensure compliance with Illinois High School Association (IHSA) regulations and district policies.
- Manage team budget and fundraising efforts as needed.
- Community & Program Development:
- Promote the basketball program within the school and community.
- Organize off-season training, conditioning programs, and summer camps.
- Support fundraising efforts and booster club initiatives.
- Serve as a role model and advocate for student-athletes in school and the broader community.
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and IHSA regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to positively mentor and develop student-athletes.
- Must complete all required coaching certifications and background checks per district and IHSA guidelines.
- Availability for evening and weekend practices, games, and team events.
