Interior Design Instructor

The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is a public Career and Technical Education District (CTED) providing tuition-free career and technical education (CTE) programs to high school students – public, charter, and home-schooled – and tuition-based programs to adults who reside in 11 school districts in the East Valley of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

EVIT offers over 40 CTE programs at four centralized campuses. Centralized campus programs provide two to four hours of hands-on training every day and prepare students for professional certification and licensing exams. EVIT students who complete their training have a 98 percent high school graduation rate and 90 percent on average are in jobs related to their training, college or the military within a year. Two out of three EVIT students go on to college.

Applications are being accepted for the position of Interior Design Teacher with the East Valley Institute of Technology. The starting date is approximately July 6, 2022. The salary range for this is $42,848 - $69,524 dependent upon preparation and like experience. This is a full-time,10 month position.

Job Summary:
Under general supervision the Interior Design Instructor will perform a variety of routine duties, as needed, to teach interior design to students from different backgrounds, ethnicity, nationalities, gender, ages, religions, or disabilities in the classroom and in the lab. The Instructor will use a variety of teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the presentations.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a 30 semester hour major in family and consumer sciences,
including instruction in interior design, and 240 clock hours of verified occupational
experience in the specific trades to be taught;
OR
6,000 clock hours of verified occupational experiences in the specific classes to be taught;
AND

• Arizona Department of Education secondary or career & technical education

certificate in the area of Family and Consumer Sciences

• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles mumps and rubella if born after January 1, 1957
