What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Reading Teacher position at East Veterans Elementary School?
Responsibilities:
Provide direct, explicit, and multi-sensory reading instruction to individual students and small groups, utilizing evidence-based strategies and interventions.
Assess students' reading skills and progress regularly, using a variety of formal and informal assessments, to inform instruction and monitor IEP goals.
Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, special education colleagues, parents/guardians, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, IEPs, and communication with parents/guardians.
Participate in individualized education program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development, review, and implementation of student IEPs.
Stay current on best practices and research in special education and reading instruction.
Create a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that fosters student growth and confidence.
Manage student behavior effectively in the classroom setting.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Special Education Director.
