What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobility Planner position at East-West Gateway Council of Governments?
East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWG) has an opening for a Mobility Planner in the Transportation Planning Department. The Mobility Planner will report directly to the Transportation Planning Coordinator and will serve as a technical resource on bicycle, pedestrian, accessibility, and senior/disability human service transportation planning activities.
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
· Provide lead staff support to the EWG Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), including coordination with representatives to establish meeting agendas and preparation of committee meeting packets.
· Assist in the development of EWG’s Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan.
· Provide technical assistance in federal transportation funding application processes, including the FHWA Surface Transportation Block Grant Program, FHWA Transportation Alternatives Program, and FTA Section 5310 Program.
· Work closely with local governments, transportation providers, advocacy groups, non-profit agencies, and stakeholders to address strategies and implement projects that expand safe opportunities for vulnerable road users and improve mobility.
· Organize educational workshops and training for local public agencies on multi-modal best practices.
· Prepare and present information to the EWG Board of Directors, advisory committees, outside agencies, and the public.
· Gather and analyze data, reports, and studies.
· Support the development of EWG’s long-range transportation plan.
This position requires knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation policies, an understanding of the metropolitan planning organization planning processes, experience in bicycle and pedestrian transportation design standards and principles, and knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements is highly desirable.
The successful candidate for this position will have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in transportation planning, urban and regional planning, public policy, civil engineering, or a closely related field, and will have at least one year of directly related professional experience or an equivalent combination of directly related education and professional experience. A master’s degree in a directly related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
The salary range for this position is $ 45,652 to $48,000 annually, with actual starting salary based on background and experience.
