Under general supervision, perform a variety of clerical functions of above average difficulty, including typing, data collection and reporting, and other general office duties some of which may require a degree of specialization; and do other related work as required.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Perform a variety of clerical tasks including typing, proofreading, filing, and recording of data
- May complete some specialized and/or technical clerical work that may involve an understanding of policies, practices, terminology and applicable legal provisions
- Compile a variety of data/information and prepare reports and summaries
- Answer the telephone and initiate outgoing calls
- Provide the public and school/district personnel with information pertaining to routine policies and procedures, and refer those making complex or highly technical inquiries to appropriate personnel
- Maintain a variety of alphabetical, numerical, one subject matter files and records which may contain confidential material
- Type from rough drafts and notes, and prepare final copy of material using a computer and word processing software operate various office equipment including a computer and peripheral equipment
- Perform a variety of data entry functions and report preparation using a computer and database and spreadsheet software
- May compose routine letters and memoranda independently
- Send, receive, sort and distribute mail; arrange appointments and meetings
- May receive and distribute books and other instructional materials or equipment
- May assist in the preparation and maintenance of student and office records including student data, test scores, and a variety of confidential information
- May assist in the processing of records for distribution
- May devise forms for the compilation and reporting of data
- May assist school/district personnel and the general public in completing a variety of forms
- May assist supervisor by following up on administrative or clerical detail which may include contact with members of the general educational community
- Perform simple tasks in maintaining a neat and orderly work environment
- May contact school/district personnel to gather information and data; inventory materials
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Modern office practices, methods and procedures
- Appropriate English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation and arithmetic concepts
- Basic techniques and strategies of planning and organization
- Standard office machines and equipment, including computers and peripheral equipment
- Word processing, database, and spreadsheet software programs
- Record storage, retrieval and management systems
Ability to:
- Perform general clerical work of above average difficulty
- Make simple arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy
- Prepare clear and comprehensive reports and communicate effectively in oral and written form
- Type at a net corrected speed of 40 words per minute and demonstrate proficiency in word processing
- Operate office machines and equipment, including computers and peripheral equipment
- Utilize word processing, database, and spreadsheet software programs
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Use new equipment and technology as it becomes required to perform this job
