- Supervision of students on the school bus (morning and afternoon routes) to ensure bus rules are followed and students are safe on the school bus or other school vehicles.
- Assist in loading and unloading of students at bus stops including getting on and off the bus at each stop and crossing the street if necessary.
- Provide school bus safety instructions to students when necessary.
- Assist school bus drivers in creating written emergency evacuation plans on vehicles.
- Assist in conducting required school bus emergency drills.
- Take attendance on each school bus shift.
- Assign seats for students on the school bus.
- Write and submit student conduct reports or incident reports as required.
- Become familiar with District school bus routes and school bus stop locations.
- Be aware of and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to pupil transportation.Requirements :
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
- Required physical performance testing per NY Department of Education regulations (arranged by the District).
- Attend all required training including pre-service and bi-annual in-service training (coordinated by the District).
- Ability to work effectively and remain patient and caring with elementary school age children.
- Ability to establish good working relationships with students, parents, and school personnel.
