What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Instructor position at Easter Seals Florida?
$20.00 per hour - seasonal position
Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week
We are currently seeking a Seasonal Summer Instructor at our School for Limitless Learning in Valrico, Florida. The Summer Instructor will guide and teach school-aged children with disabilities in an inclusive, developmentally appropriate summer day camp program. The Summer Instructor will also implement and develop daily schedules, as well as lesson plans based on the children's assessments, creating a classroom environment conducive to the learning, growth, development and success of each child. Additionally, the Summer Life Skills Instructor will consult with parents and other staff to promote and ensure appropriate programming.
A snapshot of what you'll do:
- Provide a positive, safe, stimulating, and inclusionary learning environment
- Design and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities
- Provide constant supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of each child within the learning center
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents and families
- Work collaboratively with other educators and staff to promote a positive and cohesive team environment
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Child Development Associate credential preferred
- One year of related experience working with children (volunteer hours can be included)
- Enrolled in a college field of study related to health, education, psychology, nonprofit management, or other related field
- Experience creating lesson plans and activities a plus
- Experience working with persons with disabilities on job skills training self-advocacy training, or daily living skills training, as well as assisting with personal needs such as monitoring behaviors, is a plus
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- An energetic creative and professional individual who will portray and promote a positive, respectful, and team-based environment
