Description
The Family Support Advocate assists families to identify and attain goals via the Family Partnership Agreement or assists families with other expressed needs.
Under the direction of the Center Manager, assists families to identify and attain goals via the Family Partnership Agreement. In addition to ensuring that families have access to needed services, the Family Support Advocate and Center Manager will work cooperatively to ensure the effective operation of the center.
- Must possess knowledge of principles of case management
- Must possess excellent communications skills
- Must possess the ability to operate a business computer
- Must possess the ability to travel among center locations and make home visits.
- Must possess the ability to work some weekends and evenings
- Must possess knowledge of community services and human service agencies
- Must possess the ability to manage time effectively
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Family Support Advocate
Note: Bilingual in English and one of the following language preferred: Amharic, Arabic, Nepali, or Congolese but not required.
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must pass the Background Check.
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines is required: Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Psychology or Sociology
The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On occasion, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
