Position Overview:
The Water Safety Assistant will provide support to the participants and Lead Aquatic Instructors of the program. Class will take place at Veterans Memorial, (Bennett Field), swimming pool in Worcester, MA. The summer program will run Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:00am - 11am starting in July running through August 2025. Exact dates and times are to be determined.
Essential Functions:
- Be familiar with basic water safety skills
- Protect and maintain the dignity and confidentiality of others during stressful and/or emergency situations
- Ensure participants compliance with safety rules and regulations as required by the DCR (Department of Conservation and Recreation)
- Enforce all DCR pool and state policies, rules, and regulations relative to the pool area for maintenance and potential hazards
- Report unsafe conditions and faulty equipment to Aquatics Director or supervisor
Other Functions:
- Participate in Easterseals Water Safety and disability etiquette training
- Create a respectful, fun, and social atmosphere for swimmers including both individual and group activities
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
