Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Mechanic to join our team of Mechanics for RSU 39. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills and will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing buses, ensuring they are safe and operational.
Preference will be given to individuals with or willing to obtain a bus driver license.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and engine defects in buses and other equipment.
- Make roadside repairs as required.
- Repair and/or replace seats, glass, sheet metal, latches and other body components and assemblies.
- Change oil and filters, install anti-freeze, repair tires, adjust brakes, lubricate chassis, wheel bearings and other assemblies as required.
- Perform all required preventive maintenance and regular bus safety inspections.
- Keep an accurate record of all repairs and maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain the bus garage in a clean, safe and orderly fashion.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the Director of Maintenance and Transportation.
Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Able to acquire school bus inspection license.
- Two years' minimum experience as a mechanic.
