POSITION SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Adult Ambulatory Coordinator and/or to the Director of the Service and the Medical Director. Provides direct and indirect clinical services to adults in need of mental health care and is responsible for treatment of the client and provision of age-appropriate care. Core skills may include crisis assessment, intake assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, treatment planning, case management, team/community collaboration, patient/family education and triage/discharge planning. As skill sets permits, may provide flexible coverage to another service within Behavioral Health on a short-term basis. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • This position requires a Masters degree and Connecticut licensure as a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Incumbents in specific assignments must posess and maintain a valid drivers’ license with public passenger endorsement, maintain a driving record free of any violations and pass a safe driving educational program upon hire and annually thereafter in order to participate in the Fleet Vehicle Program as outlined in the Eastern Connecticut Health Network’s Environment of Care Safety Policies and Procedures #110.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Level of care and age-specific competencies are required.
  • Training and/or familiarity with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), familiarity with abuse and neglect reporting and duty-to-warn mandates, knowledge of community-based resources and experience with pre-authorization and billing processes is preferred.

 

COMPETENCIES

  • This position requires computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook, strong clinical skills including a demonstrated team orientation, and strong written as well as verbal communication skills using the English language.
  • Must be flexible in approach so that service- specific as well as overall system needs can be met.
  • Must be able to function effectively and, at times, independently in an environment where multi-tasking is necessary.

  1. Conceptualizes and organizes data from a definite theoretical perspective, as evidenced by documentation and case presentation in clinical team meetings and in individual and group supervision.
  1. Demonstrates knowledge and respect for cultural differences in respect to the treatment approach, as evidenced through documentation and in clinical team meetings.
  1. Generates and disseminates accurate clinical case formulation and information and identifies realistic treatment goals, as evidenced by documentation on treatment plans and in clinical team meetings and individual and/or group supervision.
  1. Conveys warmth, genuineness and empathy and respects the patient as a whole person with strengths and needs, as evidenced through direct observation and patient feedback.
  1. Establishes a shared sense of outcome and processes goals with the patient, as evidenced by patient feedback and direct observation.
  1. Consistently obtains required releases of information and networks, communicates and coordinates with community providers—Department of Children and Families (DCF), Adult Probation, etc., during treatment and through discharge, as evidenced by chart audit.
  1. Realistically assesses and reassesses progress and revises formulation and diagnosis as indicated, as evidenced by treatment plan updates and participation in clinical team meetings and in individual and/or group supervision.
  1. Performs conscientiously and productively and fulfills responsibilities without reminder, as evidenced by direct observation, and chart audit.
  1. Exercises good judgment in seeking help and when acting independently, as evidenced by direct observation and individual and/or group supervision.
  1. Facilitates skill development by careful planning of DBT groups and implementation of DBT, as evidenced by direct observation, documentation of progress and/or individual or group supervision.
  1. Completes all requested forms, letters and documentation requirements with accuracy and thoroughness in a timely manner and in accordance with JCAHO, Managed Care and other standards with which the program must comply, as evidenced by chart audit.
