Job Description:
Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist. This position is responsible for supporting the patients and providers of the practice with administrative and medical tasks. Tasks and responsibilities include:
- Rooming patients timely and efficiently, taking vitals, reviewing medical and prescription drug history, and accurately recording information into the EMR
- Drawing patients' blood in accordance the practice procedure and delivering to the in-house lab
- Facilitates the authorization of drug refills and provides prescription information to pharmacies.
- Assists with scheduling patients for future appointments.
- Assist and care for patients in alignment with practice values and mission, practicing empathy and compassion at all times
- Performs regular administrative responsibilities such as scanning and updating medical records
- Other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidates have:
- At least two years as a Medical Assistant with phlebotomy experience
- Oncology experience preferred
- A warm and empathetic personality that is focused on exceptional patient care
- Ability to move quickly throughout shift and stand for long periods of time.
