Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City. Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.

1. Implements the philosophies and guidelines of the University, department, and affiliated conferences in concert with the mission of the University and the principles of NCAA Division III athletics.
2. Provides a climate in which participating athletes can strive for individual and group improvement and excellence, promotes the ideals and fundamentals of good sportsmanship, high ethical standards, physical development and high scholastic standards, and promotes equal educational opportunity for such athletes.
3. Encourages as wide participation as is feasible given the limitations of the particular sport.
4. Maintains responsibility for following University and Conference rules regarding all phases of management of the particular sport.
5. Prepares information about athletic contest scheduling including requests for facilities and transportation, purchase requests, and athletic budgeting.
6. Supervises assistants and other personnel as appropriate.
7. Informs athletic administration of current needs and problems and new developments which need to be taken into account.
8. Prepares travel reports and other fiscal reports in accordance with university accounting procedures. 9. Cooperates and coordinates with all related athletic administration personnel including, but not limited to, the sports information director and trainer.
10. Cooperates with and actively supports functions of the athletic program and Booster Club.
11. Develops and implements the entire program for the particular sport from recruiting to follow-up on athletes in the program. All practices and procedures are to be implemented in accordance with University philosophy and conference requirements. Such responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, interviews with prospective athletes, maintaining relationships with high school other college personnel, conducting practices and pre-season preparation, scouting opponents, providing information and maintaining rosters where necessary, and keeping abreast of modern trends, techniques, and strategies.
12. Performs other duties and responsibilities in addition to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s preferred along with ability to implement the regulations of the Little East Conference, Eastern Collegiate Athletic conference and National Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Demonstrated credibility in the particular sport as well as coaching expertise on both general and specific levels and ability to evaluate oneself and the program with respect to the general educational goals and objectives of the athletic programs are also required.
