What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Technician position at Eastern Florida State College?
Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the part-time position of Library Technician on the Palm Bay Campus in Palm Bay, Florida.
Salary & BenefitThe hourly rate is $15.00. This position has been approved for up to 28 hours per week. This position is eligible for regular part-time benefits (i.e. vacation, life insurance, etc.).
Position ConceptPerforms functions for all library staff operations, i.e., Circulation, Interlibrary Loan, Acquisitions, Periodicals, and Cataloging.
Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Library work experience preferred.
- Interpersonal communication skills and exceptional customer service skills.
- Possesses PC skills and ability to use calculator and other typical office machines.
- Possesses software skills, word processing, and database experience.
- Possesses effective and professional oral and written skills.
- Possesses willingness to work in a team environment and deal with changing priorities based on patron and library need.
- Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required.For individuals unable to obtain a driver’s license, a valid Florida ID is required. Employees and/or volunteers unable to obtain a Florida driver’s license, will not be allowed to drive any college vehicle, golf cart or any other motorized vehicle on college property.
- This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay (currently $36.00). This fingerprinting fee ($36.00) is non-refundable.

- Official transcripts of all collegiate work will be required to be considered beyond the application phase. *
- High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.
Minimum physical qualifications:
- Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Able to sit, stand, and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Work schedule subject to change, includes nights and some weekends.
