Job Summary And Qualifications
As Director of Patient Safety you will have the opportunity to use your clinical and leadership background to effectively lead a team that is dedicated to serving others in need and supporting one another. In this role:
- You will prevent future harm by initiating and overseeing proactive evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes (e.g. forcing functions, checklists, error causation thinking, human factors, applied informatics, culture).
- You will support improved outcomes by emphasizing both appropriate behaviors and robust systems that include concise accountability measures and follow-up.
- You will effectively report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks in the facility.
- You will perform Patient Safety Rounds that identify patient safety risks. Empower staff to identify and participate in resolution of patient safety concerns.
- You will facilitate analysis of culture of safety survey results such that data-driven action plans lead to targeted outcomes.
- You will provide ongoing education to leaders, clinicians and staff on the science of safety (high reliability, effective communication, sustaining awareness/alertness) and patient safety initiatives.
- You will partner with facility leadership to establish activities that enable and sustain an open and fair environment promoting learning, safe systems, and appropriately managing behavioral choices related to patient safety.
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing required, MSN nursing or related field preferred.
- State of Idaho Registered Nurse license required; compact license accepted, must obtain Idaho RN license within 90 days of employment.
- Current Idaho RN license (if RN), compact license accepted, must obtain Idaho RN license within 90 days of employment
- Three to five years healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality preferred. Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as a Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.
- Current certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) required or obtain within 12 months of employment in the position
