Job Summary And Qualifications

The Occupational Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by managing the complete process of occupational therapeutic care of an assigned group of patients, in coordination with the physician and the patient care team. The Occupational Therapist completes patient assessments, and participates in developing and implementing individualized care plans, focusing on goal achievement, patient engagement, and positive patient experience. The Occupational Therapist provides or directs a majority of the patient’s physical therapy to support patients throughout home health and the continuum of care.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provides evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics.
  • Assesses and evaluates therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status, and participates in patient placement and in the development of the total plan of care.
  • Provides purposeful and skilled interaction care, using procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care.
  • Observes and reports patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in patient’s condition.
  • Ensures accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with service/department guidelines.
  • Communicates pertinent payor needs/requirements to physician, treatment team, patient and patient’s family in a timely manner.
  • Provides ongoing education to patient and family as needed.
  • Recognizes the need for referrals and follows through with recommendations and referrals.
  • Prioritizes caseload and, as appropriate, determines daily staffing needs and coordinates assignments/handoffs. Demonstrates efficient and appropriate use of support staff (technicians, COTA’s, other clinicians, and office staff).
  • Provides a safe, secure, and infection/hazard-free environment.
  • Serves as an educational resource to patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, payor representatives, physicians, discharge planners, therapists, community members, and other parties as appropriate regarding rehabilitation issues.
  • Maintains current knowledge of and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assumes accountability for promoting consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
  • Maintains a patient-first philosophy, and supports the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
  • Participates as an engaged, active member of the health care team and positively promotes the rest of the team to patients/families/caregivers and other colleagues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) (Required)
  • Occupational Therapy (OT) (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (Required)
  • 1 Years of experience in a healthcare setting (Preferred)

Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a full-service hospital with 318 patient beds. Our hospital is the largest medical facility in the region.
