Overview
Eastern Iowa Community College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Part-Time Instructor to serve as our resident OSHA Outreach Trainer. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver high-quality OSHA training programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and promoting workplace safety. In addition, at least once a quarter, this role will represent Eastern Iowa Community College in National Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (NPETE) related activities and events, fostering relationships with other educational institutions, industry, and government partners.
Work is based out of the Davenport, IA Quad Cities area, with occasional travel. The schedule weekly can change due to need and travel commitments.
Pay: $49.25 per hour, up to a rate of $68.25 hourly when conducting safety or development training
Required Qualifications
- Certifications: Must hold or be willing to train to obtain current OSHA Outreach Trainer authorization for both the 10-hour and 30-hour General Industry and/or Construction courses.
- Commitment to Safety: A strong commitment to promoting workplace safety and compliance with OSHA standards.
- Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Experience: Must have at least three years’ successful related work experience in business, education or related area.
- Customer service: The ability to anticipate and proactively address customer needs.
- Communication: The ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Teamwork: The ability to work well with others to achieve a goal.

Educational Background: A degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, regulations, and best practices.
Physical Demands: This job requires 20% travel across the U.S. to fulfill NPETE partnership obligations
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and Deliver Training: Prepare and conduct OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour outreach training sessions, focusing on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards. (60%)
- Stay current with OSHA standards, industry trends, and safety practices to provide the most relevant and effective training.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate and assess student performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance to ensure comprehension and application of safety principles.
- NPETE Partner: At least once a quarter, this role will represent Eastern Iowa Community College in National Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (NPETE) related activities and events, fostering relationships with other educational institutions, industry, and government partners. (30%)
- Maintain Records/Equipment: Keep accurate records of training sessions, student attendance, and completion cards in compliance with OSHA requirements. (10%)
