Job Title: Seminary Chaplain
Program: Seminary
Supervisor: Associate Dean of Seminary
Schedule: Regular, 10 mo., .31 FTE, PT, M-F
Job Summary: The Seminary Chaplain coordinates student success and support services, pastoral care, spiritual formation and community building activities for the Seminary. This is a 10-month position, 15 flexible hours per week including on-campus office hours Tuesday-Thursday.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide students onsite and online with opportunities for pastoral care, spiritual direction and coaching beyond academic advising, as appropriate.
- Advise the Seminary Community Council.
- Work closely with the Associate Dean of the Seminary to support new student registration and onboarding.
- Work with other seminary staff and faculty to create an environment promoting learning and formation, student safety, and student retention. Coordinate with Associate Dean to follow up on Navigate alerts and work with students experiencing obstacles to academic success.
- Connect with enrolled students and help them access university-wide student services.
- Provide assistance and support for seminary graduation activities.
- Support students looking for ministry placements and promote position openings for students.
- Offer spiritual formation and community building opportunities for Seminary students on campus and online. Work with Seminary Administrative Assistant to organize Seminary spiritual formation gatherings twice a month.
- Attend monthly Theology & Religion faculty/staff meetings.

Education and Experience:
A Master's of Divinity is required. Pastoral or chaplaincy experience required. Experience in ministry and career/vocational discernment preferred. Experience in a Christian academic community, church or organizational structures preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must have the ability to accommodate irregular hours as needed to connect with students in multiple time zones.
The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally travel to meetings and conferences off campus, which may include some overnight travel.
