General Summary
Responsible for the supervision and coordination of day-to-day operations of Navigation: Returning Citizens AmeriCorps program, including contractors as well as members.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate the design and implementation of Navigation programs.
- Design the evaluation of the program.
- Manage grant-writing and resource development.
- Act as liaison with policymakers, non-profit directors, potential funders, key legislators, Michigan Community Service Commission, and others.
- Oversee and implement professional development for the Navigation program.
- Manage the recruitment and exiting process of AmeriCorps members.
- Supervise and monitor record keeping and documentation of programs.
- Prepare budget projections and plans, including staffing requirements for each program.
- Participate fully in state directed trainings, workshops and conferences by the Michigan Community Service and AmeriCorps National as required.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, or related field.
Graduate degree required.
Significant life and work experience may substitute for education.
Experience in community planning and/or organizing required (minimum 2 years).
Knowledge of the mission and objectives of AmeriCorps, the Corporation for National and Community Service and/or the Michigan Community Service Commission.
Knowledge and skills in grant development and implementation required.
Knowledge of evaluation and assessment strategies is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two to three years of experience in high-quality and effective program management is preferred.
Two to three years of experience in AmeriCorps or national service program preferred.
