Eastern Michigan University (EMU) seeks a visionary and strategic leader committed to academic excellence and shared governance to serve as Dean of the College of Business (COB). Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will serve as the Colleges Chief Academic Officer, responsible for elevating academic quality, fostering faculty scholarship, and developing strategic initiatives that align the universitys mission and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

The Dean will :

Develop and implement the Colleges academic vision, overseeing curriculum, faculty development, and research initiatives.
Supervise the Colleges academic units (Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems, Management, and Marketing).
Improve student outcomes by advancing retention strategies, promoting timely graduation initiatives, and developing industry partnerships.
Collaborate with faculty, university leadership, and community stakeholders to advance the Colleges mission.
Lead fundraising, accreditation, and strategic planning efforts to elevate the Colleges national profile.

Collaborative Responsibilities

The Dean will work closely with faculty and university leadership to :

Engage in organizational and strategic planning.

Supervise and coordinate fiscal operations within the College.

Assess academic programs and encourage continuous improvement of programs.

Partner with department heads to prepare and review budgets.

Cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships within the University.

Oversee faculty and staff performance evaluations.

Act as a liaison with external stakeholders, including professional associations, accrediting agencies, and industry leaders.

Participate in University Advisory and Policy Committees.

Evaluate research proposals, course requests, and new degree programs.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Provost.

Qualifications

Required :

Earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree in a discipline represented by the College At least seven years college or university teaching experience A distinguished academic or professional record of scholarship meriting appointment as a professor with tenure in a discipline in the College

Strong support of shared decision-making

Experience in developing and managing budgets and fiscal operations

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to think creatively and outside of the box

Passion for education and a commitment to student success

Preferred :

Four years administrative experience administrative and leadership experience in an academic, clinical, government, or industry setting related to business professions

Demonstrated experience in collective bargaining and labor relations within a university setting, including working effectively with faculty and staff unions

Enrollment & Retention : Developing strategies to increase student enrollment and persistence.

Resource Allocation : Pursuing external funding and enhancing donor engagement.

Operational Efficiency : Fostering collaboration across departments and streamlining operations.

Marketing & Branding : Elevating the Colleges reputation through digital and community engagement.

Facilities Expansion : Leading efforts to secure funding for a new College of Business building.
