Covia is looking for a dynamic Quality Control & Environmental Affairs Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Utica, IL location. As a Quality Control & Environmental Supervisor, you will proactively develop, facilitate, and maintain compliance programs for the Utica Plants to meet and exceed all local, state, and federal requirements in the environmental area. Develop and facilitate compliance with all Quality Control policies and procedures at the Utica plants.
THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Supervise QC Technicians, including performance reviews, promoting and developing safe work practices, and providing day to day
- Develop a working knowledge of environmental regulations (state and federal), consult with Corporate and Regional Environmental Affairs staff when appropriate to insure a consistent
- Work with Environmental Affairs Department to prepare and submit all environmental permit applications for the Utica
- Work with Environmental Affairs Department to prepare and submit all reports in the environmental area required by state and federal
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of equipment relating to the control of water and air pollution and also the monitoring equipment associated with environmental
- Maintain communication with environmental regulatory agencies on matters relating to the Utica
- Supervise a program of land reclamation and waste disposal, which meets and / or exceeds the requirements of the state.
- Lead and further enhance the plant's Wildlife Habitat Council program and recertification efforts.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with plant personnel at all Also maintain cooperative relationships with local, state, and federal inspectors.

- Assist in Continuous Improvement by being alert to opportunities and by drawing out suggestions from others.
- Participate in community relations activities which highlight the plants' environmental stewardship.
- Serve as a liaison with outside environmental contractors / consultants.
- Ensure completion of the weekly gram scale calibrations.
- Ensure completion of the monthly sieve standards and monthly composites.
- Maintain records for monthly and quarterly belt scale calibrations.
- Ensure completion of gauge calibrations on all plant testing equipment and maintain traceable standards as required.
- Direct, perform, and maintain analyses outlined in the Continuous Monitoring / Control System for all Utica plants.
- Monitor plant specific quality control policies and procedures for adequacy and effectiveness.
- Perform investigations and root cause analysis of customer complaints as required.
- Organize and report on density separator testing.
- Oversee data entry for QCDARS
