POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for an entry-level accountant to be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of a variety of financial records. This position will be responsible for fiscal oversight and reporting for assigned departments. This position reports to the Director, Accounting and Grants and has a dotted line reporting to the Chief Business Officer.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing financial records and assist in financial reporting
- Maintaining records of assets and liabilities
- Updating accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare, post, and review journal entries, expense accruals, and allocations
- Analyze financial statements fluctuations
- Prepare required IRS and state of New Mexico tax documents
- Assist with audits
- Record entries for investment accounts and other bank accounts as required
- Review daily journal entries
- Oversee and review operating budgets for assigned departments
- Assist in the purchasing process
- Assists with ENMU-Roswell Foundation financial activity as necessary
- Coordinates and reviews account reconciliations for general ledger accounts
- Reviews payroll liabilities and reconcile them to the general ledger
- Reviews fulltime and adjunct faculty compensation in self-service banner
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned

- This position requires time management skills and ability to perform multiple tasks

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in business and one year of experience in accounting or a combination of education and experience
- A keen eye for detail
- Computer literacy
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working Conditions
Work is performed during normal work hours, with some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
