Position Overview
POSITION SUMMARY :
Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell (ENMU-Roswell) is seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Clinical Education for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. This position will oversee the clinical education components of the program, ensuring students receive high-quality, hands-on training in clinical settings. The director plays a crucial role in maintaining the program's accreditation standards, fostering strong relationships with clinical partners and ensuring students' success.
This is a 12-month administrative faculty appointment reporting to the EMS Program Director and the Dean of Health Education. The instructor has the responsibility to administer a quality educational program to students in assigned classes.
This role includes supervising full-time and adjunct faculty as assigned, managing clinical agency agreements, and ensuring clinical resources meet or exceed contractual obligations. The director will also serve as a liaison between the program and clinical internship sites, ensuring the continuity and effectiveness of instruction.
This position requires occasional evening and weekend duties, as well as travel to clinical sites and training institutions throughout New Mexico and occasionally out of state.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee the clinical education experiences for EMS students, including EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, and Paramedic programs.
- Establish and maintain clinical affiliation agreements with hospitals, EMS agencies, and other healthcare facilities.
- Ensure clinical sites meet accreditation standards and provide a safe, educational environment for students.
- Schedule and monitor student clinical rotations, ensuring compliance with program requirements and accreditation standards.
- Travel to clinical sites and training institutions for evaluation, clinical duties, instruction and assisting other instructors on various occasions.
- Act as the primary liaison between the EMS program and clinical sites, facilitating communication and addressing any issues that arise.
- Evaluate clinical sites and preceptors to ensure quality and effectiveness of student learning experiences.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate clinical experiences with didactic and laboratory instruction.
- Provide guidance and support to students during their clinical education, addressing any academic or professional concerns.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping of student clinical hours, performance evaluations, and competencies.
- Participate in curriculum development, program review, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of EMS education best practices, accreditation standards, and industry trends.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development activities, and other departmental functions as required.
- Must follow all policies and procedures of ENMU Roswell and the ENMU System.
- Promote and represent ENMU-Roswell and the EMS Program in a professional manner at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
Work is primarily conducted indoors in a non-smoking facility and various clinical sites. Physical requirements include lifting, moving, standing, walking, reaching, and handling equipment (up to 50 lbs.). Must also be able to hear, speak and see due to the nature of the educational system. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels. Requires frequent travel to clinical sites and training institutions within NM and occasional out-of-state travel.
