Position Overview

NOTE : This is a grant-funded position associated with the ENMU-R ACCESS (Academic Connection, Caring, Engagement & Student Success) DHSI Title V Project, which aims to improve retention and completion rates for Hispanic and low-income students. This position is funded through an external grant. Continued employment beyond the fiscal year is contingent upon continuous funding.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Distance Education & Teaching & Learning Center Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for leading the TLC and championing effective and culturally responsive teaching practices, particularly in online and hybrid learning environments. This role is critical in supporting faculty, enhancing course design, and integrating technology to improve student engagement and success. This position reports to the ACCESS Activity Director.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Collaborate with faculty and a Curriculum Developer to enhance the quality and effectiveness of online course instruction, addressing challenges related to student retention and success.
• Provide training and technical assistance to online instructors in using Canvas, ENMU-Roswell's learning management system.
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and accreditation guidelines for distance education programs.
• Oversee the daily operations of the TLC, ensuring it functions as a central hub for faculty development, instructional support and a resource library.
• Facilitate workshops and professional development on culturally responsive pedagogy, student engagement, and trauma-informed teaching to equip faculty and staff to support student well-being and address post-COVID challenges.
• Provide guidance to faculty and students on developing high-quality projects and presentations that foster collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking.
• Lead faculty learning communities and provide individualized coaching to enhance teaching practices across disciplines.
• Support faculty in integrating culturally responsive and multi-dimensional teaching strategies into their courses, regardless of discipline.
• Partner with the Mental Health and Student Resource Coordinator to align teaching practices with student mental health needs and holistic support services.
• Identify and implement best practices and emerging trends in online learning, instructional design, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Actively enhance TLC services and resources to meet the evolving needs of faculty and students.
• Track and analyze participation and outcomes for distance education and professional development initiatives.
• Prepare reports to document effectiveness and recommend evidence-based improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
