Eastern Orange Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking an experienced ASC Director of Nursing to oversee the day-to-day operations of a multi-specialty center.

EASTERN ORANGE AMBULATORY SURGERY CENTER will ensure that the care is rendered in a safe, professional, comfortable, and cost-effective manner that meets or exceeds the patient's expectations.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the clinical facility and ensuring that all clinical and operational objectives are achieved. The DON has the authority to make daily decisions to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Some tasks may be assigned to the nursing leader as necessary. The DON is also responsible for fostering a culture of trust, empowerment, and collaboration among all staff at the center. Additionally, the DON must ensure that the center complies with the requirements of all relevant governmental or regulatory bodies. They also assist the medical staff in ensuring that medical practices and procedures meet the appropriate standards. Ultimately, the DON is accountable to the ASC Management Committee for clinical reporting and operational oversight, ensuring the provision of quality patient care.
Education and/or Experience:
- To be eligible for this position, a bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent experience is required, along with a minimum of five years of supervisory/management experience.
- Experience with ambulatory surgery center (ASC) operations, especially in a multi-specialty ASC setting, is essential.
- Knowledge of State, Federal, and Accrediting Body regulations (AAAHC) as well as healthcare standards is necessary.
- The candidate should be willing to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional development and have experience in personnel management.
- Additionally, evidence of continuing education directly related to the job specifications is required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Motivates and empowers facility employees to meet the facility’s mission and purpose.
- Facilitates the development of appropriate working relationships with the Governing Board, Partners, Medical Staff, Departmental Leaders, Facility Staff, Patients, and Family Members.
- Interviews, hires, counsels, and evaluates direct reports effectively and timely.
- Participates in regular leadership development and develops and implements programs for leadership development of facility managers.
- Assures that systems are in place to comply with State, Federal, and accreditation standards.
- Develops and manages the operating budget, capital budget, and projections.
- Develops, implements, and oversees plans for cost-effective operations.
- Oversees the fiscal management of the facility to ensure effective billing, collection, appeals, and accounts payable management.
- Responsible for daily time and attendance and coordinating with the leadership for bi-weekly payroll.
- Assistance to surgeons through provisions of adequately prepared service team members.
- Delegation of responsibilities and duties to professional, technical, and ancillary personnel.
- Responsibility for performance evaluation of all department personnel.
- Coordinate administrative duties to ensure the proper functioning of the staff.
- Coordinate the provision and control of materials, supplies, and equipment with supply chain leadership.
- Coordinate activities within the operating room suite.
- Manage site employees, environment, clinical processes and procedures, and workflow to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Ensure compliance with state requirements and licensure updates, including understanding CLIA requirements, pharmacy requirements, and DEA anesthesia regulations.
- Implement and maintain all aspects of Environment of Care requirements for patient safety and NFPA 101: Life Safety Code
- Plan personnel, equipment, and medications needed for medical emergencies; incorporate into Emergency Preparedness Plan; ensure equipment maintenance.
