About this opportunity
This position is responsible for efficiently and accurately processing payroll and answering payroll-related inquiries through a positive and respectful dialogue. A strong understanding of and compliance with wage and hour laws is necessary in this role.
What your role will look like
- Administer Eastern’s payroll software systems accurately and successfully.
- Process weekly payroll accurately for hourly and salary employees, which includes direct deposits, benefits withholdings, payroll deductions, benefit spending accounts, federal and state payroll taxes, and W-4s.
- Calculate and process wage garnishments and payroll adjustments accurately and on time.
- Reconcile weekly payroll for funding.
- Process weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payments for commissions, stipends, bonus payments and expense reimbursements.
- Provide employees with requested payroll-related information by using application software or other appropriate means and assist employees to resolve payroll-related requests.
- Prepare documentation for data entry and perform data entry accurately including entering employee data into information systems.
- Establish and maintain employee records to ensure that employee changes are entered correctly into the application software and processed timely.
- Research federal and state regulations proactively, including tax and labor laws, and work with Human Resources for a successful implementation of changes and additions.
- Develop and maintain knowledge and application of payroll, wage & hour, and labor regulations.
What you’ll bring to this role
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of recent and relevant Payroll processing experience required
- 3 years of recent and relevant ADP Workforce Now experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems required.
- Working knowledge of payroll compliance, regulations, and tax law as well as multi-state taxing.
