Functions
Enter data from source documents into the computer. Examine the contents of delivery vehicles and compare them with records. Work in both an office and shop/yard environment. Pull and Stock Material. Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, and the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
- Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Organize and maintain file system and file correspondence/documents as required.
- Enter, update, and verify data from source documents into the computer using a keyboard or scanning device.
- Compile, sort, and verify the accuracy of data to be entered; compare data entered with source documents.
- Work outside the office environment as needed verifying and managing the delivery of material.
- Document shipment data, such as material received, damages, and discrepancies.
- Have a working knowledge of tools used in the shipbuilding industry.
- Have a working knowledge of tool loan-out & return processes.
- Have a working knowledge of the Payroll Deduction process for tool room sale items.
- Have experience in the use of Warehouse Forklifts (All Terrain, Standard & Tandem)
- Have a working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook
- Create backup files for all data.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Reporting Relationship
- This position will report to Dept. Manager/Assistant Manager/Supervisor
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent plus one-year data entry experience, and one or more years of shipping and receiving experience desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of general office practices such as typing, filing, and bookkeeping desired.
Required
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship or a Permanent Resident Card is required.
Skills: Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook Express. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, employees, and vendors. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure. Knowledge of the safe operation and use of hand and power tools desired.

Working Conditions
The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, continual loud noise, and other hazards found in a heavy industrial shipyard environment. Rigorous compliance with safety procedures, policies, and personal safety equipment requirements is therefore mandatory
Physical Activity/Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear all required personal protective equipment, as prescribed under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. The employee must be able to work above ground at heights of a minimum of 50 feet aloft and/or working from scaffolding and/or man-lifts while working with machinery; in confined spaces and withstand extreme heat and cold in an outside climate or confined space
