The Assistant General Manager, in collaboration with the General Manager, oversees building operations and all staff of the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center (JRSSC). The AGM assists the GM with budgeting, establishing financial goals and networking within the community to help raise awareness of the JRSSC. The Assistant General Manager reports directly to the General Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Must be able to clearly communicate expectations of fellow team members and hold the team responsible for goal achievements
- Must be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills
- Able to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of JRSSC, including its Personnel Handbook, and abide by them
- Act as the key point person for new membership sales
- Responsible for managing the membership sales process
- Develop, implement and monitor membership sales business plan
- Recruit new members and create partnerships with local community businesses
- Propose, develop and market membership pricing levels
- Present approved membership options and prices to prospective members
- Ensure that all telephone and email membership inquiries, booking and maintaining appointments for prospective members to tour the club are responded to
- Ensure prospective members get an enthusiastic and informative tour
- Achieve financial objectives by preparing budgets, analyzing and responding on variances and initiating corrective actions
- Track, prepare and report on daily membership sales and monthly end numbers
- Responsible for member retention
- Ensure accuracy with billing, downgrades, freezes, and terminations
- Work together with all departments as a team
- Manage Front Desk operations ensuring a high level of professionalism and friendliness
- Assist with facility budget and monitor departmental financial spending, specifically but not limited to Membership and Fitness
- Hold Periodic All-Staff Meetings
- Evaluate and supervise staff
- Resolves member/guest grievances
- Communicates unsettled complaints to General Manager
- Ensures compliance of employees with established standards, standard operating procedures and culture
- Analyze facility needs and resources
- Plans, develops and implements JRSSC policies and procedures
- Evaluate, develop, execute the strategic plan for Membership and Fitness departments
- Represent the JRSSC as needed at expos, health fairs, community events, and community meetings
- Assist in overall budgeting and strategic planning for the JRSSC
- Knowledge of & respect for Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center Mission
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of JRSSC, including its Personnel Handbook, and abide by them
- Manage several staff within the facility
- Assist in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these staff members
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the General Manager
