Job Summary
The College of Professional Programs at Eastern Washington University and Family Resource and Training Center (FRTC) invites applications for a full time Academy Trainer for the Child Welfare Academy program.
Under direction of the Lead Trainer, provide Academy, In-service, and other training opportunities for the staff of the Department of Health and Welfare and provide on-the job-training through modeling, mentoring, and coaching of new Department employees within a specified region. Responsibilities are focused on training, collaboration, and feedback.
The FRTC is a partnership between the EWU College of Professional Programs and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) as well as numerous other community service organizations, charities, and Title IV-E program affiliates. The FRTC operates as a training and service center for developing social workers and foster parents throughout the state of Idaho and supporting Social Work interns from EWU. The center is dedicated to improving the lives of at-risk children and families, and our mission is to build healthy families and communities. (Familyrtc.org)

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Academy (new-hire/on-boarding) training for Department employees.
- Provide In-Service training as requested for Department employees.
- Mentor new Department staff through modeling, collaboration, and coaching for Regions 6 and 7.
- Attend meetings and trainings as requested.
- Collaboration for curriculum development.
- Build relationships with community partners and engage them in training opportunities as they arise.
- Assess and provide feedback to Department supervisors regarding employee engagement and retention/application of training material.
- Build and maintain relationships with Department staff.
- Documentation
- Accurate tracking of attendance at trainings.
- Monitoring of Department employee progress through Academy sessions.
- Collection and summary of pre/post test knowledge checks.
- Collection of trainer evaluation forms to be submitted to Lead Trainer.
- Summary report of the time/activities spent coaching and mentoring new Department employees.

Conditions of Employment
- The position is located in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
- This is a 100% administrative exempt positions funded under a grant contract. Continuation of the position is contingent on continuing availability of contract funding.
- This position, during the course of university employment, will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
- This position will required the selected candidate to travel as needed to fulfill the position job duties, up to 10% of work time approximately. Travel will occur throughout the state of Idaho, and could include multi-day/overnight trips. Travel will be required for supervision, training purposes, and multi-day conferences. Use of personal vehicle is reimbursed at the approved rate per Idaho State Travel Policy and Procedures in effect on date of travel.
- Must have access to personal transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record, including no DUI citations.
- All new employees must comply with EWU immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.

Required Qualifications
- BSW and at least five years of child welfare experience.
- Have experience in training.
- Knowledge of curriculum development.
- Knowledge of the foster care system.
- Exhibits flexibility to provide services as requested by the Department.
- Valid Driver’s License, insurance, and reliable transportation; traveling required (mileage reimbursed).
- Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, Department of Health and Welfare, and community partners.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- The ability to engage and foster a connection with attendees during training.
- The ability to learn various platforms and modalities to conduct trainings.
- Additionally, all employees are expected to demonstrate ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications
- Be a current State of Idaho Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
- Have child welfare experience.
