Job Summary
EWU is currently searching for a Food Service Manager 2. We’re seeking an organized, energetic and innovative leader to oversee all aspects of our food service operations within our busy Union Market. Major Responsibilities will include managing all food service operations associated with the Union Market, including catering, concessions, special events, and retail sales. Participate in the planning and promotion of Dining Services activities.
Duties:
Under direction, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.

Plan menus, order product and equipment, and maintain inventory levels.
Plan and forecast staffing, costs, product usage, pricing and equipment needs for operations and events managed.
Maintain acceptable sanitation and safety practices.
Monitor fiscal activity for operations managed and make budgetary recommendations.
Assist in the departmental arrangement of adequate staffing for peak work demands.
Assist in the development of policies for EWU Dining Services; implement established policies.
Compile reports on operations managed.
Prepare cost estimates and quotes for on- and off-campus Dining Service events.
Develop and promote efforts to maximize usage of EWU Dining Service Staff.
Attend University and community meetings to inform groups of services and products available.
Assist in long-range planning and development of EWU Dining Services.
Assist in the development and implementation of goals and supporting strategies for EWU Dining Services.
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for EWU Dining Services through preparation of recommendations.
Perform related duties as required.
May act as Director in their absence.
The salary range for this position is $51,360 (minimum) up to $69,072. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. Conditions of Employment
- This position requires a valid food handler’s permit and a driver’s license.
- This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
- This position must meet franchise uniform requirements (uniforms are provided) and personal hygiene standards.
- This is a 100%, full-time (40 hours per week), partial-year career position that is eligible for full EWU benefits.
- During the course of university employment this position will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Food Handlers Permit
- Washington State Drivers License
- Two years of food service supervisor experience
- Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the needs of, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous college or university food service supervisor experience preferred.
- Supervision/Management experience in institutional food service preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: practices, methods, and procedures of large-scale food preparation and servicing; personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation, and safety precautions; care and use of kitchen utensils and equipment; record keeping, report preparation; personnel functions.
