Job Summary:
The Lead Investigator is responsible for overseeing and conducting thorough investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation involving individuals with developmental disabilities. This role requires a high level of expertise in investigative practices, a deep understanding of the legal and ethical standards governing the treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities, and the ability to manage complex cases. The Lead Investigator will ensure that all investigations are conducted in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, while maintaining a commitment to the dignity and rights of the individuals involved. The Lead Investigator will also oversee internal audits ensuring they are done to the highest quality standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and/or conduct comprehensive inquiries into allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- Collect and document evidence, interview witnesses, and ensure proper handling of all case materials in compliance with governing bodies
- Review and provide feedback on investigative reports, case summaries
- Collaborate with departments to ensure thorough and coordinated investigative process.
- Provide oversight for internal billing audits
- Ensure all investigation are conducted in alignment with organizational policies and industry standards.
- Review and assess audit results to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure all personnel involved in conducting investigations are adequately trained and adhere to best practices.
- Take the lead with any investigation carried out by governing bodies
- Oversee and conduct client file audits to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with investigation supervisor to ensure that findings from investigations or audits are addressed through policy changes, staff retraining, or other corrective actions.
- Prepare audit reports, identifying potential compliance risks and recommending corrective measures.
- Develop and deliver ongoing training programs for staff on topics related to the prevention of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, as well as proper handling and reporting of incidents.
- Ensure that all staff are trained in recognizing the signs of abuse or neglect and are aware of their reporting responsibilities.
- In collaboration with the investigation supervisor, develop refresher courses and materials to keep staff informed of changes in regulations, safety protocols, and investigative procedures.
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
- 3 years of investigation experience
- 2 years of ID/DD experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and other required screenings
- Experience with Microsoft software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform light to moderate lifting when needed
- Possession of valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and proof of auto insurance.
