POSITION TITLE: ABA Clinical Supervisor

POSITION LOCATION: We have an opening at both our Peoria Service Center (507 E. Armstrong Ave., Peoria, IL 61603) and Bloomington Service Center (202 St. Joseph Drive, Bloomington, IL 61704)

POSITION STATUS: Exempt/Salary

POSITION SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm

Exciting growth is happening in the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) department at Easterseals Central Illinois! As we expand our services to better support families across Central Illinois, we’re adding two new ABA Clinical Supervisor positions - one in Bloomington, Illinois, and one in Peoria, Illinois. Position Objective:

The ABA Clinic Supervisor functions as a leader for their respective location under the direct leadership and support of the ABA Clinical Director. Leadership responsibilities include but are not limited to managing day-to-day operations within each clinic, overseeing BCBAs, ABA Apprentices, and BT/RBTs, and managing caseloads, saturation, and ABA waitlists.

In addition, the ABA Clinic Supervisor maintains a personal caseload to provide evaluation, treatment, and consultation services that address behavior excesses and skill deficits of children diagnosed with autism and other developmental, intellectual, or behavioral concerns. The BCBA uses the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis within a family-centered approach to develop and carry out programs and activities designed to improve the lives of children and their families.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines is required: applied behavior analysis, early childhood education/development, early childhood special education, special education, pediatric therapy, psychology, or a related field.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®) with current state licensure in good standing with the regulatory boards.
  • Three years of experience implementing Applied Behavioral Analysis services, preferably with children with ASD.
  • Two or more years of experience providing staff direction and development in a supervisory role preferred.

Job Functions:

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Supervises individualized ABA programs for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders in a variety of settings- primarily in-center, but additionally out in the community, in-home, in schools, and within other peer-group social contexts.
  • Provides clinical supervision and work direction to treatment teams to include skills enhancement, clinical consultation, and professional development.
  • Conducts initial assessment of clients diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and produces assessment reports to include a recommendation for treatment and supervision hours.
  • Assures clients receive interventions to meet the full extent of the services authorized; adjusts staffing of treatment team as appropriate to meet the needs of the client.
  • Coaches direct care teams on the procedural implementation of treatment plans via team meetings and live/in-person supervision.
  • Reviews data and reports submitted by the direct care team and recommends changes to the program, procedures, and data collection methods to assure programs reflect each child's development and progress towards identified goals.
  • Observes and assesses client skills and progress to inform recommendations for ongoing intervention and behavioral programming.
  • Creates and leads the implementation of Behavior Support Plans as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with additional service providers on the client's support team to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
  • Addresses program delivery with families, including parent/caregiver coaching, challenges with the implementation of the program, parent /caregiver participation, and work environment as necessary.
  • Produces progress reports and treatment plans as needed, ensuring that they meet the requirements of regulatory agencies and funding sources and are clinically accurate and appropriate.
  • Attends progress and treatment plan review meetings with families.
  • Conducts parent training series or other community support and education programs that align with current grant funding.
  • Schedules, develops, and facilitates case study groups with the BCBA team and ABA Apprentices as applicable.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Meeting productivity requirements of a minimum weekly average of 40% billable hours and providing efficient and effective service in all areas of performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of billable tasks that meet the requirements of regulatory agencies and funding sources and are HIPAA compliant.
  • Track direct and indirect client sessions to ensure that services are provided to the full extent of the authorization for each client.
  • Coordinate documentation to ensure reauthorization and continuation of services when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain BT/RBT ongoing client schedules.
  • Manage BCBA/Apprentice Saturation.
  • Manage location-specific client waitlist.
  • Oversee and ensure BT 40-hour training, observations, and BACB RBT Initial Competency completion. Assessment within an appropriate timeline.
  • Track RBT levels and implement RBT level performance reviews when appropriate.
  • Annual performance reviews for location-specific BCBA team.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversees hiring, onboarding, mentorship, supervision, and performance management of location-specific teams.
  • Support staff in meeting productivity requirements.
  • Provide regular performance feedback to location-specific teams related to their strengths and areas of improvement, and work with them to set goals for professional development.
  • Ensure Easterseals policies are communicated to and understood by the clinical team.
  • Works collaboratively with the ABA Clinical Director and clinical services leadership team to ensure consistency in service, training, quality assurance, and collaboration across disciplines.
  • Works to ensure clinical documentation is being completed per Easterseals policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates with stakeholders from initial intake to authorization and scheduling of initial evaluations.
  • Assist with the development of ideas, plans, and procedures for the expansion, improvement, and evaluation of Easterseals ABA Services.

Marginal Responsibilities

  • Participates in meetings and on committees as required and appropriate.
  • Develops and presents staff in-service training and community education and/or training.
  • Maintains awareness of trends and evidence-based practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competency Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge and skill necessary to independently provide evaluations and treatment plans related to credentialed/licensed field of practice.
  • Ability to oversee and direct team members’ case assignments and provide timely performance-related feedback.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accreditation requirements related to outcomes data collection, reporting, and communication.
  • Ensures client and family confidentiality by complying with Easterseals policy and procedure, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act) requirements, and any other privacy requirements as may be specified by referral sources, funders or other licensing and regulatory entities.
  • Knowledgeable of evidence-based methodologies found to benefit children diagnosed with ASD, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and Pivotal Response Training (PRT).
  • Sensitive to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; American Sign Language or bilingual ability preferred.
  • Able to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Able to exercise confidentiality and discretion pertaining to the work environment.
  • Able to appropriately interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in computer/word processing software and excel.

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting in order to observe, assess, and interact with clients.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading toys and materials up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to physically implement behavior management strategies including responding to physically aggressive behavior.
  • Visual and auditory ability to work with clients, staff, and others in the workplace continuously.
  • Ability to utilize a computer, tablet, telephone, and copy machine.
  • Frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.
  • Ability to drive to all Easterseals centers and service sites within a 100-mile radius, as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Routinely works in office environments with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
  • Community Settings for meetings and direct service activities.
  • Client homes for direct service activities.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance.
  • Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain QBS Safety-Care training certification.
  • Ability to maintain active BCBA certification status.
  • Ability to maintain active LBA state licensure status.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected pay for this position is an annual salary of $75,000 - $85,000. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. Easterseals staff have access to a well-rounded benefits package and additional perks, such as:
