This is a full-time position that is 80% clinical and 20% administrative.
- As a Medical Director, provides medical services support and leadership in designated service area:
- Reports to and regularly meets with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), providing and seeking advice and support, and providing important information to ensure effective and safe service delivery and policy development.
- Provides coverage when the CMO is unavailable.
- Represents and supports physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nursing and medical assistant activities in service area. In some cases, this may involve direct supervision and/or co-signing documents.
- Provides case consultation to medical, nursing and other clinical staff as needed (e.g., general questions, second opinion requests, patient complaints, transfer requests), and at committees/meetings (e.g., BTPRC, sentinel events, collaborative care).
- Ensures adequate coverage for medical services for service area (e.g., holiday coverage, medication refills, crisis and other specialty appointments).
- Assists in the development of the agenda for monthly and quarterly ESM medical staff meetings.
- Serves as a liaison between medical and nursing staff in service area, ESM administration (e.g., CMO, directors, managers), and external partners (e.g., pharmacy, lab, primary care) regarding policy and practice. Provides technical assistance and input where needed regarding the development of Easterseals programs and implementation of Easterseals policies and procedures, including professional practice standards, clinical priorities and practices, service delivery, quality assurance, peer review, credentialing, health information management improvement, education and training, recruitment and onboarding, research, infection control and medical risk management.
- Provides psychiatric and medical services to children and/or adults served by programs of Easterseals, including all responsibilities associated with the provision of direct care.
