About being a YouthBuild Construction Site Monitor at Easterseals Redwood:
Position Summary:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing basic construction tasks with student groups, assisting the Construction Site Supervisor in preparing student workers for daily site start-up and close down activities.
This position will monitor student performance and document their ability to follow best practices for assigned construction sites and, as needed, assist in creating weekly task lists.
Expectations for Professional Skills:
- Monitor students’ performance of basic construction tasks including framing floors/walls, sheeting walls, installing insulation/doors/windows/cabinets/trim, and painting
- Assist in creation of daily task list with the site supervisor based on the completion of tasks for the current day and what needs to be accomplished the next day
- Assist in leading students to accomplish tasks by providing support and guidance and redirection when necessary
- Monitor students’ compliance with Site Supervisor’s instructions concerning proper site set up, clean-up and securing of tools and materials at the end of the day
- Document accomplishments as well as opportunities for student improvement and growth.
- Complete a daily activity log for each student and review them weekly with the YouthBuild Team to address any areas of concern
- Transport students to and from the work site
- Remain on site with students for the entire scheduled work day
- Serve as the construction work site point of contact for the YouthBuild Team.

- Demonstration of good interpersonal skills in a variety of social and professional settings to ensure good working relationships with students, industry professionals and site volunteers
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to perform as a team player and also work independently with limited supervision
What Easterseals Redwood needs from our YouthBuild Construction Site Monitor:
- Must have relevant professional or related academic program experience - i.e., mentoring, teaching, counseling.
- A valid driver’s license is required and ability to be an insured driver for Easterseals Redwood participants.
- Experience in the residential construction process is a plus.
- OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain certification if offered
