Looking for a career that makes a difference in the lives of others? Easterseals Rehabilitation Center is looking for a full-time Wheelchair Van Driver to transport group home clients with physical and intellectual disabilities to their day program, home, or appointments during morning and afternoon hours for our group homes.
Paid training, including company provided CPR / 1st Aid training
Basic Responsibilities :
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client, employee, and agency information.
Physical lifting and / or transfer assistance of certain consumers. Must be able to lift weight in accordance with the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center requirements.
Transport authorized riders as prescribed by the van route assigned. This includes, but is not limited to :
Adhering to the time schedule for pick-ups and drop-offs.
Delivering and picking up consumers at prescribed locations.
Assuring that required safety devices (e.g. car seats, safety belts, wheelchair straps) are adequate in number and in place prior to pickups.
Assuring that all required safety devices are utilized correctly at all times.
Assuring that all consumers are accounted for (on vehicle or not in attendance) before departure on a daily basis.
Knowing and confirming who and where consumers are on a daily basis.
Maintain accurate transportation logs and perform a daily inspection of the vehicle as outlined on the Monthly Pre-Trip Checklist form.
Enforce the safety rules for all consumers including NO FOOD, NO DRINK, and NO SMOKING in vans.
Follow all policies and procedures as outline.
Personal use of the vehicle is not permitted. Personal use of the cellular telephones is not permitted.
Maintain a professional, courteous relationship with all consumers and maintain consumer confidentiality.
Observe all traffic rules including speed limit, distance between vehicles, traffic signs and signals, etc.

Qualifications : Required :
Must be at least 21 years old
Must have a valid driver's license
Must have a good driving record
Must have a High School Diploma / GED or demonstrate the ability to read and write.
Must pass CPR / 1staid training and maintain certification
Must pass pre-employment company health / physical strength screening, TB test, drug screening, Police / Background and driving record checks.
