Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a disability non-profit organization looking to hire a dynamic full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to work with special needs children ages 3-8 years old. The COTA will work at all three of our Approved Private Schools located in Export/Murrysville, West Mifflin and Cranberry Township.
JOB SUMMARY
The COTA is responsible for administering occupational therapy services for children under the supervision of an occupational therapist. These services include structured assessments, treatment, and equipment adaptations/modification documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS-COTA
- Graduate of AOTA Approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program required.
- PA Occupational Therapy Assistant license (or eligible for license) required.
- Certificate of National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy required.
- Completion of education credits needed to maintain license/certifications required.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check required.
- Acceptable Child Abuse History Clearance required.
- Acceptable FBI Clearance required.
- Passing of physical examination and TB required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES-COTA
1. Determine children’s needs for services in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist (OTR)
2. Implement interdisciplinary aspects of students’ current Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) which includes, but is not limited to: communication systems, behavioral interventions, feeding approaches, sensory recommendations and mobility recommendations.
3. Implement prescribed treatment plan for children on caseload.
4. Contribute to the assessment process under the direct supervision of the OTR.
5. Collaborate with OTR in developing treatment plans and techniques to implement the plans.
BENEFITS
- Work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 6.5 hour days. Working only 32.5 hours per week, with a typical school calendar of 9.5 months per year! The hourly rate is $20.00, $26,650 annually. We do offer the option to earn extra income with summer employment as well.
