Job Description :
Utilities Division has an opening for an Environmental Instrument Analyst in their Environmental Services Department.
Environmental Instrument Analysts (EIAs) provide initial accidental discharge response, perform sample collection, and maintain / calibrate all continuous environmental instrumentation for all manufacturing divisions and wastewater treatment. When performing sample analysis or tracing the source of accidental discharges, they operate a variety of analytical instrumentation and perform various types of analytical testing. The position requires low to moderate physical exertion and work in adverse weather as needed. This position will work a 12-hour rotating shift on a crew after completion of an initial short training period that works Monday-Friday day shifts, with some overtime required depending on business needs. The Environmental Instrument Analyst (EIA) will report to the Water Monitoring Team Manager of the Environmental Services Laboratory.
Responsibilities :
- Accurate and representative collections of water monitoring samples for analysis.
- Uses portable and fixed monitors to analyze water.
- Responsible for calibration of test analyzers and equipment to ensure accuracy of test results.
- Responsible for data entry and integrity of various electronic data handling systems and data collection software programs.
- Performs manual calibrations and routine maintenance on analyzers and analyzer systems.
- Responsible for set up and operation of the appropriate sampling equipment as defined in the applicable state or federal regulations.
- Responsible for maintaining sampling equipment.
- Performs all required QA / QC work including chain of custody forms, state and independent audit forms, and test spreadsheets with appropriate calculations.
- Responsible for completing simple laboratory analyst activities such as weighing, preparation of solutions, glassware cleaning, measuring volumes of solutions, and filling out laboratory data sheets.
- Responsible for manual operations such as inserting / removing probes and instruments, and applicable pipefitting and electrical wiring.
- Performs accurate reading of the plant sewer maps and utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS).
