What you'll do as a PD Electrical Engineer:
As you step into the role of Power Distribution Electrical Engineer at Eastman's Longview, Texas facility, you will embark on a journey where your expertise will be pivotal in enhancing our electrical systems. The following duties and responsibilities outline your critical contributions to our team, emphasizing safety, innovation, and excellence in power distribution.
Provide high voltage power distribution electrical engineering support primarily for the Longview, Texas site, with potential support for other locations as needed.
Maintain and enhance technical expertise in power distribution systems, including protective relay schemes, circuit technology, and relay and trip unit operations.
Develop and implement procedures for the efficient operation and protection of the cogeneration generator.
Ensure the reliability and safety of the generator through advanced understanding and application of GE Protects, SEL Products, and Emerson systems.
Identify and implement opportunities for improved electrical design focusing on safety, quality, cost, and reliability.
Provide cost and schedule estimates for capital and maintenance projects.
Define the scope of work for electrical components of projects and develop engineering designs and specifications to support procurement and construction.
Coordinate and deliver training for operating departments and Control Systems Mechanics.
Mentor and share knowledge with team members to foster professional growth.
Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to address and resolve electric motor issues across various voltage applications.
Monitor performance and maintain data on electrical equipment to optimize reliability.
Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts for large electrical motors, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Engage in reliability reviews to identify root causes and improve motor performance.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will leverage the following experience, skills and abilities:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is essential, laying the foundation for your technical expertise.
You bring a minimum of 5 years of impactful experience in electrical power distribution, system design, and troubleshooting, ideally within the dynamic chemical or petrochemical industry.
Your skill set encompasses a broad range of electrical engineering and project management capabilities, including power distribution, electrical system design, grounding, lighting, motors, and variable frequency drives.
You embody a proactive safety mindset, believing that injuries and safety incidents are preventable, and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to personnel and process safety.
