As a Rotating Equipment Engineer within our Worldwide Engineering and Construction (WWE&C) division, you will support Eastman manufacturing plants by providing engineering design and equipment selection solutions for rotating equipment, heavy machinery, and mechanical support systems throughout all phases of the capital process—from concept and scope development through installation and commissioning.
You will collaborate with a team of rotating equipment designers to offer subject-matter expertise on special initiatives and troubleshooting efforts within various Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Procurement teams. This role encompasses a broad range of rotating equipment (pumps, fans, compressors, blowers, turbines, etc.) and support systems (lubrication, sealing systems, mechanical and power systems, etc.), with a focus on 200 hp special-purpose equipment and heavy machinery (API pumps, compressors, and turbines).

Role

Responsibilities
Safety and Standards
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal and process safety
- Provide subject-matter expertise for development and application of industry and Eastman engineering codes/standards (i.e. API, ASME, ANSI, PIP)
- Serve as rotating equipment and/or heavy machinery lead on large capital projects through tasks like equipment design and selection, cost management, drawing reviews and input on overall system design, collaboration with vendors and contractors, factory acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning
- Manage wide personal project portfolio effectively and efficiently
- Lead cross-functional working teams with effective group facilitation and collaboration
- Support rotating equipment and heavy machinery needs for operations and maintenance through small capital projects, commissioning, installation, troubleshooting, reliability efforts, equipment repair guidance, and maintenance best practices
- Collaborate with maintenance, reliability engineers, and operations to develop preventive and predictive equipment care programs
- Support equipment manufacturer and repair shop qualification and inspection
- Lead engineering studies to evaluate equipment performance and perform calculations to support troubleshooting efforts, system evaluation, and equipment design
- Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations, FMEA analyses, PHA revalidation, Kaizen rapid improvement events, etc.
- Mentor and provide guidance/training for less experienced engineers
- Navigate multiple environments (office, operation/production area, maintenance shop, external repair shop) to accomplish project priorities
- Some periodic travel (domestic & international) may be required
- Occasional off-shift support may be required
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering
- (6 ) years relevant professional experience supporting rotating equipment required
- 5 years experience as lead rotating equipment engineer in the Chemical (or related) industry
- Professional Engineering (PE) License
- Experience working on Large Capital Projects
- Level 2 or higher vibration analysis training
