Role Profile
The energy sourcing manager supports sourcing activities for energy and utilities in North America. This role joins the existing global energy sourcing team within Eastman’s global procurement organization and will lead the sourcing and procurement of energy and utility requirements for several large North American sites as well as support Eastman’s energy transition strategy. This includes, but is not limited to, developing sourcing and negotiation strategies for natural gas, coal, electricity and industrial gasses at the lowest total cost of ownership, negotiating pricing and supply contracts with existing suppliers, working to develop new supply sources as needed and managing product supply and supplier risk. In fulfilling this role, the energy sourcing manager will be responsible for managing relationships with external suppliers, negotiating complex supply contracts and interfacing with internal stakeholders in manufacturing, technology, sustainability and business teams.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with key stakeholders in business leadership, operations, finance, legal, and across global sourcing to develop effective sourcing, cost reduction and category plans
- Assesses product and supplier risk of business interruption and establishes and executes effective mitigation plans
- Negotiates and executes supply contracts in line with the product and category strategies
- Builds and manages supplier relationships, performance, risks and contracting based on sourcing strategy and business needs
- Facilitates supplier exploration, negotiation and contracting processes and ensures contract compliance
- Maximizes earnings by selling excess CoGen power
- Demonstrates and develops deep energy market expertise and monitors market trends including market prices, supply/demand fundamentals, and technological advancements to inform sourcing decisions and make recommendations to business leadership
- Leads total cost of ownership savings opportunities and working capital improvements via negotiations with suppliers
- Forecasts and communicates expected costs
- Supports corporate decarbonization efforts and strategy
- Supports energy advocacy efforts through industry associations
- Upholds internal and external policies, regulations, and laws
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, supply chain or a related field
- Location in Kingsport, TN
- Successful track-record in operations, sourcing or commercial experience in the energy or chemical industries
- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
- Strong analytical, change management and problem-solving skills with strong bias for action
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels internally and externally
- Ability to manage internal and external client relationships effectively
- Capability of meeting deadlines working under pressure while maintaining high attention-to-detail
